The Natural History of the Immune System
The human immune system is the key to understanding our health
In an evolutionary sense, our immune system is linked to the environment and to all other life forms. It contains within itself the immunological development of all living beings. If we want to understand how to retain our health over the long term, the field of medicine will need to undertake a paradigm shift toward eco-immunology.
This young science examines how temperature, seasonality, soil microbes, the air we breathe, and other environmental factors affect diseases and their courses. For example, it teaches us why some people are particularly susceptible to infections in certain life situations, or why vaccinations work better for some and worse for others.
The first comprehensive view from an eco-immunological perspective
